Created on the initiative of Sandrine Ledru, Associate Director of Article Onze, ATA is a non-profit association whose mission is to promote tourism in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
ATA’s objective is to communicate with a single voice, without distorting the specificities of each destination, and to participate in the development of their brand image and reputation by proposing actions that are complementary to those already initiated by each of them.
The board has already been constituted, bringing together experts from the Middle East and North Africa, surrounded by communication professionals, presented below in alphabetical order:
- Laurent Abitbol, President Selectour Havas
- Valérie Boned, General Secretary EDV
- Nicolas Brumelot, President and founder of MisterFly
- Anne Dumesnil, Director Middle East Voyageurs du monde
- Saskia Gentil, Senior Vice President Sales Accor
- Sandrine Ledru, Associate Director Article Onze
- Olivier Martin-Dupray, Associate Director Addiction Agency,
- Patrick Pourbaix, Managing Director MSC France – Belgium
The first meeting of the board will be held in January 2022. The ATA name, the domain name and the articles of association have all been filed with each authority.
A European deployment is planned from 2022 and internationally in 2023.
ATA intends to bring together all tourism professionals working in the area: Destinations, TOs, DMCs, OTAs, Airlines, AGVs, Cruise operators, Institutional organisations, Distribution networks and media.
Addiction Agency, a member of the board, has taken charge of the creation of the association’s identity and communication strategy.
Sandrine Ledru underlines “The countries of the Arab world had no dedicated association until now, unlike all other geographical areas. I join the members of the ATA board in welcoming the creation of this entity, which will be able to federate synergies to promote these countries, which have so much to offer.
“The countries of the Arab world face many common tourism challenges, and this association will make it possible to work to bring out the specificities of each country in a common project for the region. – Olivier Martin-Dupray
“The states of the Arab world, which cover 10% of the world’s surface area, have a wealth and diversity of culture and landscapes, which represent as many assets to get involved with tourism market professionals in order to promote their attractiveness as a destination on the French market. – Nicolas Brumelot
“I am very happy to associate MSC Cruises with this initiative, which is more than judicious in a context where cruises have been present in the Maghreb for a long time and where there has been strong development in the Middle East, in the Persian Gulf, in the Arabian Sea and very recently in the Red Sea. – Patrick Pourbaix
